eBay for fun and profit ... mainly fun

Behind the scenes at Chez Girtby, I have been eBaying a huge swag of stuff. This prompted Chris to put his copy of Everquest 2 up for sale. The listing deserves to be preserved for posterity:

EQ2 is set in a parallel revenue stream to EQ1 and 500 years in the pastfuture (of EQ1). I haven’t played it so I don’t know if (like EQ1) you can pickpocket the beaks from birds, if snakes still kick, or if bats that seem to have 2 wings sometimes drop 3

  • that’s all part of the adventure!

For around US$14.99/month you can slay rats, bats, snakes, order Pizza Hut online, quest and roleplay with tens of thousands of other players. Kill gods and watch them respawn before your very eyes… oh wait, that’s EQ1 again.

The Everquest 2 web site is http://everquest2.station.sony.com/

Be sure you have some fairly chunky PC hardware. This isn’t massively multiplayer online Frogger. The Sony site says:

  • Operating System: Windows 98/2000/ME/XP
  • Processor: 1GHz or greater
  • RAM: 512 MB
  • Video Card: DirectX 9 compatible. Pixel shader and vertex shader compatible hardware with 64 MB of texture memory
  • Sound Card: DirectSound compatible audio hardware

I’d guess that if you have double every number stated here (NB: DirectX 18 does not exist yet) you will be almost ok. Be warned - word on the street is that this game kills puny PCs and eats them for breakfast.

It’s your world now, or it will be soon after I send it to you.

NB: This is the DVD version of EQ2. Brand new. Never opened. Includes 30 day subscription, in-box poster with maps of Qeynos and Freeport and in-game animated statues for your player house.

I look forward to the availability of massively multiplayer online Frogger. And DirectX 18 for that matter.

Quit loitering and bid!

I was going to make it a condition of sale that the buyer had to agree not to murder anyone in revenge for virtual theft but that would detract from the generally positive tone of the listing :D

I wonder if MMO Frogger will require DirectX 18…
